GENERAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

(Plus the opportunity for discounted conference registration!)

Hello Water Resources Professionals! June 18-21, 2023 the CWRA will be hosting its annual conference in beautiful Kjipuktuk or Halifax, Nova Scotia. The theme for this year is Rising with the Tide: Working Together to Address Water Resource Challenges.

We are looking for volunteers to help with setup, take names at the registration desk, help coordinate AV in the presentation rooms, help with take down, and various other support roles.

Volunteer shifts will primarily fall outside of social and networking events, so you will have plenty of time to meet and speak to other professionals in many water resources fields. Additionally, we will try to accommodate volunteers wanting to attend sessions of specific interest, as the schedule and availability of volunteers allows.

  • Volunteers will be asked to complete a minimum of a half day (assumed as 5 hours) of volunteering up to a day and a half (15 hours) in half-day shifts
  • Volunteers will receive the equivalent of their time working as a discount for the remainder of the conference
    • If you work a half day, you will receive a refund for the value of the time worked and an additional half day (partial refund)
    • If you work a day and a half, you will receive a refund for the value of the time worked and an additional day and a half (full refund)
    • More than one half-day shifts volunteering can be done over the three days of the conference and does not necessarily have to be completed consecutively
  • If you require accommodations other than the process listed above, please contact Janice McCarthy, contact below, to discuss the possibility of other options.
  • If a volunteer shift falls during a meal period, food will be provided to volunteers
  • Any volunteer hours can be noted for any professional registrations, to be certified by a conference organizer
  • If you have already registered, you can still sign up as a volunteer and receive a partial or full refund of your registration
  • As registrations are limited, if you are interested in being a volunteer, please contact us by May 8, 2023
