SYP Volunteer Opportunities

Call for Volunteers and a Chance to Pay for Conference Registration!

Hello, Students and Young Professionals (SYP) in the water resources field! June 5th to 9th, the CWRA will be hosting its annual conference in beautiful Canmore, Alberta.

The theme for the year is Valuing Shared Waters and we hope to bring as many people together as possible and want to do whatever we can to add your voice!

We are looking for volunteers to take names at the registration desk and help coordinate AV in the presentation rooms. The young people always end up having to fix the tech, don’t we?

Volunteer shifts will primarily fall outside of social and networking events, so you will have plenty of time to meet and speak to leading Canadian professionals in many water resources fields.

  • Anyone able to take on a half-day of volunteering (2 or more 2-hour shifts) can apply for a partial refund of their registration
  • Anyone who’s willing to volunteer for 8 or more 2-hour shifts (at least 16 hours)  will have their registration fully refunded
  • Any volunteer hours can be noted for any professional registrations (i.e., APEGA), to be certified by a conference organizer
  • If you have already registered, you can still sign up as a volunteer for a partial or full refund of your registration after the conference

We hope to do whatever we can to get as many students and young professionals to the conference. If you need more, please reach out and we’ll do what we can.

Students and Young Professionals (SYP) are the future of water resources in Alberta and in Canada and this is a great chance to come together!

For more information or to sign up as a volunteer, please reach out to me, Andrew Tefs, SYP and volunteer coordinator for the event (andrew.tefs@ucalgary.ca).
